FTP Settings on the New Platform
Server/Host: ftp.clientdomain.com
FTP Username: your client’s account username
FTP Password: your client’s account password
More information about connecting to your client’s website via FTP, including a quick video tutorial, is available in our Knowledgebase. It’s available on yourwebhosting.com, but you’ll need to log in as your client to view it (nearly all pages on yourwebhosting.com are behind login). The same information is available on verio.com (though don’t forget that, for your clients, substitute yourwebhosting.com for verio.com).
FTP Subusers — Regenerate Their Passwords
If any of your clients have set up FTP subuser accounts (i.e., provided limited access for others to make updates to their websites), they will need to regenerate passwords for those additional FTP logins (and let their colleagues know what they are). We apologize for any inconvenience — for security reasons, we were not able to pull them from the old platform.
Please visit our Knowledgebase for information about managing multiple FTP logins on the new platform. It’s available on yourwebhosting.com, but you’ll need to log in as your client to view it (nearly all pages on yourwebhosting.com are behind login). The same information is available on verio.com (though don’t forget that, for your clients, substitute yourwebhosting.com for verio.com).
System Settings on the New Platform
The new platform runs PHP version 5.5.22 and MySQL version 5.6.32, both of which are upgrades over the old platform. There shouldn’t be anything you or your clients need to update once an account has been migrated; the migration process itself should ensure that your client websites remain compatible with these upgraded system settings.
To view the full list of system settings on the new platform, log into a client’s new-platform control panel. In the right margin of the control panel, you’ll see a section called “System Settings,” which includes not only the versions of PHP and MySQL we’re running, but also installed Perl modules and installed PEAR modules, as well as many of the settings included on this transition information site (nameservers, FTP paths, mail server paths, etc.).
MySQL Database Passwords: One-Time Confirmation
When accessing a MySQL database from the new control panel for the first time, you or your client will be prompted to confirm the database username and password. (If you’re not sure what your database password is, you’ll have an option to change it to something else instead.)
You will only need to do this once; after that, once you’ve logged into your client’s main control panel, you’ll have access to all your client’s services under that single, main login.
External Database Connections Are Not Supported on the New Platform
For security reasons, external database connections are not supported on the new platform. If you or your clients are hosting a database with Verio/YourWebHosting (MySQL, MS SQL, etc.) and it connects to or via a location not hosted on your account with us, the code will need to be reconfigured without the external reference.
WordPress and Other Installs
The Knowledgebase also has extensive information about using WordPress on the new platform. It’s available on yourwebhosting.com, but you’ll need to log in as your client to view it (nearly all pages on yourwebhosting.com are behind login). The same information is available on verio.com (though don’t forget that, for your clients, substitute yourwebhosting.com for verio.com).
If you or your clients are interested in installing/managing other open source applications, more about our integration with MOJO Marketplace is also available in our Knowledgebase, available both on yourwebhosting.com and verio.com.
Verio’s Website Counter Is Being Discontinued
If your clients were using the site counter on the old platform, it will not work correctly on the new one. We apologize for any inconvenience — it had been designed specifically for the old platform. There are a number of free website counters available online if they’re interested in continuing to use one.

Additional Information for Windows Platform Customers:
- Server Upgrade: Servers on the old platform had been running Server 2003 x86. The new platform servers are running Server 2012R2 x64. Please note that if you or your clients compiled any of your applications for x86, they will now need to be recompiled for AnyCPU or x64.
- Access Databases: Please note that “Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0” is discontinued on the new platform. Connection strings need to be updated to use “Microsoft.Ace.OLEBD.12”.
- FrontPage: Microsoft FrontPage is not supported on the new platform. Any FrontPage Extensions that had previously been installed have been migrated to the new platform and will continue to work, but they can no longer be updated. We apologize for any inconvenience — Microsoft stopped supporting FrontPage in 2006, and it is considered deprecated technology. Designers using FrontPage Server Extensions components are likely to encounter problems with modern web browsers. Expression Web users who are using FrontPage Server Extensions for authoring websites by connecting to servers using HTTP should adopt modern technologies, such as FTP (including SFTP and FTPS), WebDAV, or by using disk-based sites.
- Perl Modules: For a list of Perl modules installed on the new platform, visit our knowledgebase. It’s available on yourwebhosting.com, but you’ll need to log in as your client to view it (nearly all pages on yourwebhosting.com are behind login). The same information is available on verio.com (though don’t forget that, for your clients, substitute yourwebhosting.com for verio.com).
- MS SQL: New platform servers run MS SQL 2005 with Service Pack 3 installed. More information is included in our knowledgebase:
